Blog hiatus x Apartment move!

No comments:
So this is it. After 8 years of renting and living in Manila, I'm finally leaving the student-boarder life. I'll miss the loud noises, soliciting salesmen, street food across the street, manong sorbetero, manong taho, stray dogs, stray kittens, stray children (lol!), being near bf's house, 30mins transpo to Quiapo & Divi :(

....a lot more things to miss. Its sad but very exciting still. Time for change ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ Hello QC! ミ★

Photobucket

Still no update from Globe so I don't know how long I'll be hiatus. I've downloaded enough shows, movies to last me a week of no internet. (* ^-^)ノ I can use this time to finish my reading list *maybe lol*. I'm still packing so I can only queue a few posts :3

My google reader will probably explode by the time I check it again (^-^;")>. Blog friends (Roselyn, Maan, Miha, Mariel, Regina and Wyona ) and blog favorites I'll visit and comment once I get my connection! Photobucket

Back to basics: Memorizing Japanese syllabary

No comments:

Found these in an old box yesterday. Figured I should start with my Nihongo lessons again before I get too excited with other things. Back to basics (cause I forgot everything I learned from Elem 1)....

If you guys (you know all 3 of you~ (^ー^) ha!) want to study with me...I can try and guide you. :)

Memorizing of Kana (Hiragana and Katakana) characters

I found these in an old site but its gone now so I thought I'd upload here instead. I learned Hiragana & Katakana this way by memorizing the pictures. I can't find my Katakana picture sheet (sorry!) so we both would have to learn it the hard way.

To listen to how the characters are pronounced check this site: genkienglish.

To test yourself use these flash kana cards: realkana (has an iphone app!) / kanacards / search itunes store, there are tons of apps for Kana practice.

Next lesson!~ Reading & Writing practice

Moving to my new place

No comments:
err I just realized...I'm 6 days away from moving and I haven't packed anything. Σ( ̄o ̄lll) I have a mountain of laundry. I have no way of getting all my junk to my new place. I have no way of getting the rest of my junk to the province (to give away to my cousins). I still haven't heard from my internet provider. PANIC!!! щ(゚Д゚щ)

Ok L focus *breathe*~~

Things to do:
1. do the laundry
2. box my books, magazines, craft stuff
3. box my clothes
4. box stuff to give away

hmn looks easy~ ( ̄~ ̄;)but I have a ton of stuff..huhu (╥_╥).
In Japan there are moving companies who pack your stuff neatly in boxes, move them to the new location, unpack and arrange them for you. I wonder if we have the same here *thinks*.

I raided one of my old boxes (the nearest one I can pull :p ) and found these --  old CD's, magazines, and books I thought I lost. ( ̄ー ̄)v heh~~

Link love: book blogs

No comments:

Lately I read more book blogs than I read actual books. :/ My reading list is piling up. I was hoping reading blogs would keep me motivated but it did the opposite. ( ̄ー ̄)ゞ Kinda lost my reading momentum. So I decided to read 70 or more pages everyday and consequently put a shopping ban on books. I shall conveniently ignore Booksale for a while :(

Anyway...here are my favorite book blogs:

*click the photos to go the websites.

and a few more: aldr.in, sashawantsmore (lol stalkerish much ^з^), Lucy (fullybooked bookstore semi-official blog?), Haruki Murakami facebook, NBS facebook

Style: Hibernating

No comments:
The cold months are my perfect excuse to wear baggy clothes, tights, sweater and big glasses without getting weird looks from people. I call this the nerd-grandma aka hibernating look. ( ̄ω ̄)ノ

I need to replace my glasses :( my old one snapped in two. Σ( ̄o ̄lll)

these look like something Rachel (from GLEE) would wear noh?! (^ー^)

*sigh* I wish I had gone shopping when I had the money. I'm running out of clothes!! I need to save my money since I'll be moving this end of October. Gah!!! So many bills to pay, stuff to buy. I am literally starting over. *no money (╥_╥)*

Saranghe BIGBANG

No comments:
Excuse me for getting sentimental--its 1AM and I really really miss BIGBANG. It's sad that they only just got back after a 2 year hiatus then bad things happen one after another. I really hope they stay strong, they're such an amazing group and they don't deserve all the bad publicity.

VIP's will wait for you. Please stay strong. FOREVER VIP

Watching clips of their concerts....here are a few of my favorite BB songs.

Heaven and Pabo (Fool)...(2010 BIGSHOW concert)

Sunset Glow (w/c they almost always sing at encore) (2010 BIGSHOW concert)

Always (2009 BIGSHOW concert) -- 2010 -- 2011

They always sing this song when going around the concert grounds / interacting with the fans.

Sony NEX-C3

No comments:
I've given up on SLR cameras because 1) I don't have time to learn photography, 2) I don't go out much anyway, 3) Its too bulky if ever I do go out, and 4) leave the pro camera to the pro's~ ( ̄ー ̄)v

Besides there's photoshop to make my photos look the way I want them to look. heh! (〃^-^)
To be honest, I'm perfectly happy with my camera phone (Sony X10 mini pro), since I like taking macro shots, but unfortunately its horrible in low light & normal shots.

I really really want this elephant watering can from living accents. So far I've seen it in 3 different stores; urban outifitters, amazon, and Ace hardware (US).

I hope my Mom is able to find it :(

Scanner personality

No comments:
I am always getting into something. I like trying out new things and often I learn it but I don't make an effort to perfect it. I'm writing this to vent. I told boyfriend about my sewing projects and he had this disinterested attitude. I'm not angry—in fact I understand him quite perfectly. I always get excited on one thing that it consumes months in my life. Then I see something else and I move on to that. Its the same process every time. I know its a bad habit. That is why I started this blog in the first place. I'm hoping that if I keep talking about my hobbies, if I make a schedule and expose myself to other people who like the same things I like—Maybe I'd be able to follow through on most of them.

I have what Barbara Sher calls a scanner personality.

A scanner is the contrary of a specialist. Scanners are unable to choose one single passion or career, and if they force themselves to do so, they suffer (and their productivity suffers, too). Scanners don’t have only one field of interest, they have many of them. They seem to be interested in just about everything. They usually have many projects running at the same time, and permanently come up with some great new idea. They also tend not to implement their ideas or not to finish the projects they start.

Perhaps the only thing that has remained constant is my inability to follow through on anything. I studied Japanese (Elem1) and didn't enroll for Elem 2. Now I don't remember any of it anymore. I did clay work for some time along with jewelry making. I bought all the tools I could need including my own mini oven. Now I'm into sewing and trying to get my past hobbies into my routine. I plan to learn Hangeul, gardening and woodworking in the future. ( T_T)人(T_T ) *help!!*

That's why I'm so scared of buying a sewing machine. What if I lose interest again? *sigh* (¬_¬) I know I know I should just try harder. No use getting discouraged. Won't help at all.

Anyway, I was watching 2NE1 videos on youtube and found this video of CL & Dara trying to learn how to assemble a sewing machine. They're both adorkables! (^ー^)ノPhotobucket

CL is part of the reason why I decided to finally learn how to sew. That and I'd be moving soon. Do you know how much a throw pillow cost? RIDICULOUS! Well if I were to sell my work I'd probably price them the same too. Ah—but that's not the point~ hah!

Fall shopping list

No comments:
We don't really have fall here in the Philippines. We do have what we call "-ber months" which is September-December. Cold months due to rain and the Christmas season.

Contrary to what I post here--of clothes I like--I don't really shop for clothes all that often. I buy clothes out of necessity. It can only be one of three things; 1) my clothes don't fit me. 2) my bf or mom forced me. 3) I haven't bought any new clothes in 6 or so months. heh! ( ̄o ̄lll)

This weekend I'm going to Megamall to finally do some shopping! Its getting colder and all my sweaters are worn out. I need to buy new shoes cause I haven't bought one since .... 2 years ago?? (。◕‿‿◕。) ahaha~

Going here...I saw the F21 facebook page and they have 1231439287 new crop tops (which I love!!!) ... but I don't need them this season .. huhu.. I hope I can resist~ ( T-T)

Brazenhead Books

No comments:
One of my life-long fantasy is to live in a house filled with books, own a bookstore, or get trapped inside a library. haha! ( ´ω`)

I used to beg my Mom to buy me books when I was younger but we didn't have the funds. ( ̄へ ̄)Seeing how I love books, my Mom decided to buy me a set of encyclopedia which took her years to pay. I learned so much about the most random things. Once I see something interesting on TV I would dash to the bookshelf and read all about it. *sniff*

I'm so glad there are 2nd hand bookshops and that we had been blessed with a much comfortable life now. (Thank YOU for the blessings. 彡) I'm currently building a mini library. Filling it with books I should have read when I was a child. The idea of living with books, it being a big part of life is something I want my future children to have.

Books about books

No comments:

Added a few more titles to my to-read book list. Because I'm writing a reading journal (and having a hard time figuring out what to write), I wonder how other people dissect their books. Maybe I can pick up a few tips.  What should we be looking for when reading a book? What should we be asking ourselves? I want to get more than just knowing about the plot. I want to understand more.

As reading is a solitary experience, I find comfort in a fellow book lovers experience living with books. That's why I'm starting to read more book blogs than reading actual books. Just reading about their adventures makes me happy. I know..I know.. I need to speed up my pace, my to-read list is currently at 69. (^ー^)

Pretty things: Rebecca Green

If I could own one of these paintings, I'd be a very happy person. I came across Rebecca Green's feature at fromyourdesks and fell in love with her paintings. I like paintings that are a bit grotesque and whimsical.

Sewing a Reading journal

No comments:
Since I have upped my reading habit, it was getting harder to remember quotes and characters. I didn't want to highlight or write on my books so I thought of keeping a reading journal. I know I can just blog about it, but the point of my hobbies is to keep me away from the computer. (I'm a bit addicted to the internet as you can see ). I can't afford an expensive one right now, so I decided to just personalize a normal notebook.

This is my first sewing project. From watching sewing projects on YouTube I thought it would be easy. Anyway, I screwed up my first try. I kinda screwed up the final one too but I was able to save it somehow. I learned to:

  1. Don't start without a template of some kind
  2. Don't cut the fabric without a plan
  3. Use a thimble! (my fingers hurt Photobucket)

I only have a basic sewing kit: needle, pins, ruler (for guide), and scissors. Now that I finished it, the whole process is actually really easy.
